The total foreign investment in China exceeded US$60 billions in 2003. And there are several new trends of these investments that many experts are expecting to last at least in the next 10 years:

·         Foreign investment growth in hi-tech industry will accelerate, while investment in labor-intensive industries is steady.

·         International merge and acquisition will pick up momentum as a new investment vehicle.

·         FDI (foreign direct investment) will become an even more popular choice.

·         Foreign companies will be more focusing on the Chinese domestic market.

·         Investment and operations will spread out from Special Economic Zones to other areas.

·         Foreign companies will be more diversified in terms of operations and business areas.

·         Foreign companies’ operations in China will become more independent.

·         More conglomerate companies will emerge within the Chinese market.
